Summary
"Eggheads" is a quiz show in which teams from all over the UK compete against a panel of quiz champions referred to as the Eggheads. In each of the first four rounds, the challengers are given a category (one of nine possible subjects, including politics, history, geography, science and music) and must choose a member of their own team to play and an Egghead opponent. Both players are then asked in turn three questions each with multiple choice answers. The player who wins each round is then eligible to play in the final general knowledge round. If the challengers win the final round, they go home with the money in the prize fund. If the Eggheads triumph at the end of each day, the prize fund increases by £1,000. Eggheads have included "Fifteen to One" winner Daphne Fowler, "Mastermind" champion Chris Hughes, "Beat the Nation" winner CJ de Mooi and Judith Keppel, the first British winner of £1,000,000 on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Dermot Murnaghan has presented the show since it premiered on BBC Two in 2003. Jeremy Vine began co-presenting the series in 2008. Spin-off series "Eggheads Celebrity Special" pits well-known faces against the Eggheads, with a reward for charity on offer.
