Germany v Poland

Summary

Germany v Poland (Kick-off 8.00pm). Mark Pougatch presents coverage of the match at the Stade de France in Paris, as the teams play their second contest in Group C. These sides will be extremely familiar with each other after having faced each other twice during the qualifying stage for this tournament, each winning one game apiece. The first of those encounters took place in Warsaw on matchday two, and saw Poland claim a 2-0 victory that was somewhat surprising considering how dominant Joachim Loew's men had looked at the World Cup in Brazil just months prior to that. However, Germany avenged that loss 11 months later courtesy of a 3-1 win in Frankfurt, which helped to ensure they topped the group ahead of the Poles. Robert Lewandowski scored the consolation goal on that occasion, one of 13 he scored during the qualifying campaign to finish as the top scorer, and the prolific Bayern Munich forward is bound to be the focus of much attention having scored so many goals in the German Bundesliga this season, and drawn comparisons to the legendary Gerd Muller. With commentary by Sam Matterface and Andy Townsend, and analysis by Slaven Bilic, Lothar Matthaus, Ian Wright and Peter Crouch.
