Summary
Adam is determined that justice be served when he becomes involved in the case of two warring brothers, one of whom is dying from asbestos poisoning brought on by working for the family business. It’s a classic Casualty set-up: two cars, two distracted drivers. One is dealing with noisy teenage children, the other coughing blood and listening to hits of the 80s. So will one of them crash, or both? Or one into the other? When it comes, the accident is an impressive one, at Holby’s attractive harbourside quarter, and brings about a case full of challenges for Adam.
He faces first one high-pressure ethical dilemma – whether to ignore an advance directive from a terminally ill patient – then a series of others, as the aftershocks of a corrupt family business rattle the resus room. The subplots are awful, but this main story packs a punch.
