"True Blood" is an American drama based on novels by Charlaine Harris. It charts the love story between Louisiana waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a centuries-old vampire. Sookie has the ability to listen in on people's thoughts and she's open-minded about the integration of vampires into her community. Oddly, Bill is the only person whose mind is a closed book to her. Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires no longer need to target humans, but it doesn't mean they are all virtuous. Created by Alan Ball ("Six Feet Under"), it premiered in 2009.
