Summary
Nick Knowles sets off on an ambitious adventure around the continent, starting out by climbing the baby slopes of the Andes Mountains and coming face to face with 40,000 breeding pairs of Magellan penguins. He learns about the lives of the Kaweskas ancestors, an indigenous people known for their connection to the ocean
Review

TV’s obsession with “intrepid” stars indulging in have-a-go or wacky adventures in places most of us will never visit continues with Nick Knowles exploring southern Chile. After a spot of precarious rock climbing (and why not?), he meets some tiny Magellanic penguin chicks, stands on the deck of a replica of Darwin’s ship HMS Beagle and learns about wind energy.
He’s surprised by the miles of grass scrubland, but what really blows him away is a humbling encounter with Dimitri, who is raising awareness for Huntington’s disease by cycling 11,000 miles though South America. The Andes are impressive — but so is that.
