Episode 2: The Wreck of the Relationship

Summary

Marge signs Homer and Bart up on a father-son bonding ocean voyage in a bid to heal their troubled relationship, and while the pair are away takes over Homer's fantasy football league. Animation, featuring the voice of Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation)

Review

A good old-fashioned classic Bart v Homer family breakdown. The flash point: broccoli. When Bart – who has a bedroom full of half-eaten cereal bowls – refuses to eat his veg (“No! No! I’ll never eat those filthy mini-trees!”) a riled Homer gets into a father-son face-off and as the days pass and the broccoli wilts, neither will back down. In despair, Marge sends the pair for a therapeutic course on a traditional sailing boat (called The Relation Ship).

Back home, she is left to manage Homer’s fantasy football team, prompting a great line from Lisa when Marge is shocked by the online messages that male players send each other: “Mom, it’s trash talk,” she explains. “You know how guys say mean things to their friends, the way women say nice things to their enemies?”
