Episode 4: Lego

Summary

As Lego enthusiast David prepares to release some of his prized sets at auction, Andy and Dave are hoping to pick up some sought after construction boxes for their joint collection

Review

They were the deals that saved Lego. Back in the 90s, kids were more interested in PlayStations than plastic bricks, so sales of the Danish construction sets slumped. But after launching Harry Potter and Star Wars ranges, Lego became big business again. And their policy of discontinuing certain products after a period of time can send resale values skyrocketing.

That’s where friends Dave and Andy come in — they’re self-styled AFOLs (Adult Fans of Lego) and regulars at auctions, where they try to get their eager modelling mitts on sought-after items. Though, interestingly, they’re immune to the Force. “It’s grey and bland and lots of bricks,” is their scathing verdict on the Death Star being sold.
