Episode 24: Talent Shows

Summary

Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman invite another selection of famous faces to take part in the unorthodox general knowledge quiz. This time, the celebrities all come from the world of TV talent shows, as former Fame Academy headmaster Richard Park teams up with David Grant, one of the show's ex-tutors. Actor and singer Ben Forster, who won ITV's Superstar, joins forces with Danielle Hope, winner of BBC's Over the Rainbow, and Patti Boulaye, who emerged victorious from the 1978 talent show New Faces, collaborates with Nina Myskow, one of the show's panellists. Finally, Britain's Got Talent 2012 champions Ashleigh and Pudsey allies with 2015 runner-up Jamie Raven

Review

Looking at the line-up of celebrities, it’s initially hard to see a connection between them even after Alexander Armstrong introduces it as the “Talent Show” edition. Most of us will recognise Ashleigh and Pudsey from Britain’s Got Talent but Nina Myskow? Patti Boulaye? If you didn’t know, the former was a judge and the latter was a winner on New Faces in the 70s and 80s.

However, Xander spends most time fawning entertainingly over Fame Academy’s Richard Park who is also his boss at Classic FM. Among the subjects to brush up on is Shakespeare quotations, obscure band members, middle-aged actors and Disney songs.
