Summary

"The Trip" is a six-part comedy drama starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as fictional versions of themselves. Steve has been hired by a national newspaper to review half a dozen restaurants in rural locations and asks Rob to join him after his girlfriend, the real food expert, breaks off the relationship and moves back to America. On their excursion, they debate the big questions in life and try to outdo each other with their character impersonations in a somewhat juvenile manner. The largely improvised series sees the boys travelling around the north of England staying at hotels, while sampling first-class cuisine at various establishments. Throughout the series, Rob rings his wife and Steve attempts to maintain contact with his girlfriend Mischa (Margo Stilley). Claire Keenan plays Emma, Steve's contact at the newspaper. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, the series premiered on BBC Two in 2010.
