Summary
"Francesco's Mediterranean Voyage" sees architect and historian Francesco da Mosto travelling around the Mediterranean in a clipper boat to discover what wonders can be found on Europe's famous waterways. He travels from Venice to Istanbul via Dubrovnik and Athens retracing the trade routes his ancestors used in the 19th century. He begins in his home city of Venice, but not before he has to earn the trust of his soon-to-be shipmates and takes viewers on a journey round the waterlogged city to give us a taste of its Renaissance heyday. The 12-part series premiered on BBC Two in 2008.
