"Murder, She Wrote" is an American mystery series starring Angela Lansbury as amateur sleuth Jessica Fletcher, a retired English teacher who finds fame and fortune as a successful mystery writer. Set in Cabot Cove, a coastal town in Maine, where murders occur frequently, the series reveals Jessica to be very astute at piecing clues together to find perpetrators. Other regular characters include Dr Seth Hazlitt (William Windom), Sheriff Amos Tupper (Tom Bosley) and Sheriff Mort Metzger (Ron Masak). The hugely popular series won a number of awards, including six Golden Globes. It premiered in 1984 and ran for 12 seasons. A number of TV movies followed the ending of the series.
