"Mr Selfridge" is a period drama set in the early 20th century telling the story of American entrepreneur Harry Selfridge (Jeremy Piven) as he sets about trying to create the finest department store the world has ever seen on Oxford Street in London. Immediately he runs into opposition from the anti-American press and the project faces an uncertain future when his business partner suddenly pulls out. Harry is thrown a lifeline when journalist Frank Edwards (Samuel West) offers to show him around London and introduce him to the right people. After overcoming a number of hurdles and recruiting his staff, opening day in March 1909 is a great success, but takings are disappointing and Harry could still be ruined. Created by Andrew Davies ("House of Cards", "Pride and Prejudice", "A Very Peculiar Practice"), it also stars Frances O'Connor, Katherine Kelly and Zoe Tapper. It premiered on ITV in January 2013.
