Review
What is it about The Voice UK? It arguably features the best talent that can be mustered for a TV show, and yet we’re in the seventh series and still waiting for the next singing superstar to emerge. Should we all concede it’s just a jolly programme and leave it at that? Probably.
Tonight Jennifer Hudson, Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Olly Murs will be signing off with a performance of the Beatles’ Come Together as the four acts who have reached the final are left at the mercy of the viewers’ vote.
There have been some shocks this series: that gospel singer Jason Nicholson-Porter and teacher Simon Davies (whose blind audition has racked up nearly two million views on YouTube) didn’t make it this far is frankly baffling. But for the eventual victor, a recording contract and an almost inevitable fade into obscurity awaits.
