Episode 6: Whitechapel

Summary

Part two of two. With the body count rising, Miles and Chandler clash over the direction of the investigation, and struggle to put aside their differences in the face of their toughest adversary to date. Counsellor Morgan Lamb is of particular interest to the team, having already survived the killer's wrath, and Chandler has a vested interest in keeping her alive. Starring Rupert Penry-Jones, Phil Davis and Lydia Leonard.

Review

Whitechapel has a big fault – its stories’ endings never stack up and feel rushed – but it has the great virtue of being exquisitely well made. Even though it’s packed with every trope in the horror genre – this week, a woman takes a shower with the blinds open while there’s a killer on the loose! – it still delivers some full-blooded shocks. Pity that the stories don’t live up to their setting.

So it’s best just to settle back for the ride as DI Chandler and his faithful sidekick DS Miles confront the last inventive serial murderer of the series, the Bogeyman.
