Review

On the first anniversary of the collapse of Champlain Towers South in Miami a year ago, this documentary studies the science behind such disasters. The 12-storey Miami apartment building caved in in just 12 seconds, killing 98 people. The film uses eye-witness accounts, news archive, bodycam footage from first responders and CGI to reconstruct the disaster, while the complicated rescue operation is recalled and the collapse explained.

Could more structures across the world be at risk of a similar fate? The film explores how the problem of our ageing buildings should be tackled, and what measures employed to prevent future tragedies.
