Episode 33: First Impressions

Summary

Two troublemakers fall through the roof of a hall while a charity football match takes place nearby. Referee Luke tends the boys and takes one of them under his wing when he spots his potential as a soccer player. Ellen struggles to hide her cancer, while Maggie receives a romantic e-mail from a stranger.

Review

Clipped Connie the clinical lead is at her most insufferable as she shows off in front of a high-powered friend who’s visiting from America: “This is the front line, my expertise saves lives,” says Connie after she does something particularly awesome while wearing the biggest, spikiest heels you have ever seen.

Her visiting friend, some kind of cardiac expert, mirrors Connie in charming personality traits, cutting Zoe off at the knees with “a doctor who smokes? How refreshingly irresponsible”. She’s rude and horrible and puts her hands on her hips a lot. Bad manners seem to be catching because Tess has returned to work after her accident and she’s suddenly become very tough and professional. She won’t even go to the pub.
