Episode 38: Casualty

Summary

Eddie realises Alicia is scared of him after discovering that she has swapped all her shifts to avoid him. Meanwhile, Bea receives a phone call about her dad and leaves work to pick him up from the police station, and Sam and Jacob discuss which of the ED staff she would be able to beat in a boxing match.

Review

Ethan ticks off uppity, unpleasant junior doctor Eddie McAllister after he behaves disrespectfully towards Dr Kinsella. “That’s not how we do things here,” says Ethan, wearing his Concerned Face. No, it certainly isn’t; here we kill a patient, have a fling with his girlfriend and perform an illegal and unethical operation on a colleague. In other words, Holby ED is a model of probity.

But let’s not waste our sympathy on Dr McAllister, who clearly subjected Alicia to distressing behaviour. She’s anxious and wary around him, and preoccupied even when he’s nowhere near. The patient of the week is a young Vietnamese woman subjected to slave conditions in a nail bar, while Elle thinks she’s on to Connie.
