There is a little medicine sprinkled throughout this episode, but not so anyone would notice. Mostly it is about the trauma of the staff, and they are suffering. Amy, Holby’s new pharmacist, has been regretting her one-night stand with Dr Tressler ever since it happened, but now it’s comes back to haunt her in such a big way she tries to get hubby Raf to leave the country – seriously.
The most uncomfortable storyline comes from an often unsympathetic character, the hospital’s deputy, Serena Campbell. As her mother comes to the hospital to visit a friend, Serena’s forced to acknowledge what she has obviously been ignoring – that her mum is suffering from dementia. The performances are understated and you can see nothing but heartbreak ahead.
