Summary
The presenter discovers the great state of Alaska, America's last frontier - a place of extreme weather, wildlife, wilderness, and ways of life. Sue starts her adventure in Anchorage, and visits a survival school, where she learns how to protect herself in the event of a bear attack
Review
Jane Rackham
Is Sue Perkins up for some adventures in the Alaskan wilderness? Well, she’s no Simon Reeve. At survival school, she’s terrified when a grown man dressed in a bear costume jumps out at her. As that doesn’t bode well, she starts off gently by bottle-feeding a moose and meeting an orphaned brown bear.
Sue has proved to be a warm, perceptive but irreverent companion in previous travel shows, and she’s as entertaining and informative this time. Whether she’s (reluctantly) handling a firearm, fishing for salmon or dressing up as a Russian doll at an eccentric café, she throws herself into all her “super-sized” experiences. And, despite her self-confessed suburban preconceptions, she tries not to judge the lifestyles of others…even those who hunt animals.
