Taskmaster Greg Davies and his loyal little lickspittle Alex Horne return for another series of the BAFTA-winning Taskmaster. The five brave souls desperate to display Greg's regal golden head on their mantelpiece at home are: Alan Davies, Desiree Burch, Guz Khan, Morgana Robinson and Victoria Coren Mitchell.
The key thing about Taskmaster is that everyone takes it seriously, even when the tasks are clearly ludicrous. However fed up the contestants get (“This is awful, this is awful,” one groans in deep, spiritual pain), they keep going. But look out for a meta moment tonight between Greg Davies and Alex Horne as they debate how to score a task where panellists have to make themselves get goosebumps.
Should Alan Davies be disqualified? It probably won’t affect the scoring. “So it doesn’t matter?” asks Davies, to which Horne replies brilliantly, “Well, nothing matters.” He’s probably right. But there are splendid bits of nonsense with cherry liqueurs and a game of hide-and-seek anyway.
