Review

You have an icicle for a heart if you’re not touched by these gloriously traditional Christmas animations. The Snowman, from 1982, about a snowman that comes to life, has become as much a part of our Christmas as fairy lights, turkeys and presents.

A truly charming tale, it tells how James, a young boy who wakes up one Christmas Eve morning to the heaviest snows he’s ever seen, rushes out to make a snowman…and then the magic begins.

Written by Raymond Briggs, this wordless delight features the song everyone sings along with: Walking in the Air, performed here by Peter Auty.
