Episode 2: Eat Well for Less?

Summary

Jordan Banjo and Chris Bavin advise a family from West Drayton, west London. Liston, Preety and their children Teyha, Jorja and Dylan love a takeaway and need to cut down their snacking. Fast food and sugary snacks aren't great, but for Preety it's more serious than normal as she has diabetes. It's a condition that runs in the family and she is concerned that the children don't follow in her footsteps. Chris shows them a tasty and nutritious meal using ingredients from their pantry. Jordan is on a mission to get the kids eating more veg and hopes his `rainbow" pizza will convince them

Review

The problem facing the Clarke family from West Drayton is a familiar one: their kids snack so much that they are too full to eat a healthy dinner. As mum Preety has diabetes, she is also concerned how much sugar they are consuming.

When Chris Bavin and Jordan Banjo have a peek inside the Clarkes’ food cupboards, they discover a phenomenally well-stocked pantry, although, shockingly, there are 250 packets of crisps in there. However, while Preety and her husband Liston are keen to change, the kids turn up their noses at almost everything and, despite less snacking, it takes a week of experimentation before there’s a breakthrough and they all enjoy the same home-cooked meal.
