Summary
"The Big Silence" is a documentary series following five people who have taken time out of their daily lives to discover why silence is difficult to attain in modern-day society. All of the participants have high-pressured jobs in business, teaching, PR, media and hospitality, and they want to add a more spiritual dimension to their lives. Abbott Christopher Jamison of Worth Abbey in West Sussex, who became well-known in 2005 through the BBC Two series "The Monastery", guides the volunteers on their spiritual journey. In episode one, the participants spend two days with Father Christopher's community of monks in Sussex, where they participate in sessions of quiet, contemplative prayer and meditation. Over a two-month period, Father Christopher monitors their progress at their homes and at Worth Abbey as they meet up for a spiritual health check. The three-part series premiered on BBC Two in 2010.
