Summary

"Stargate SG-1" is a Canadian-American sci-fi adventure based on the 1994 movie "Stargate". Created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, the TV series picks up a year after the events of the feature film, when the US government discovers that a network of alien devices called Stargates connects planets within the Milky Way. An elite special force squad, SG-1, is sent to explore the galaxy and defend Earth against alien threats from the Goa'uld, Replicators and later the Ori. The SG-1 team is led by archaeology boffin Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) and military veteran Col Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), and also includes astrophysicist Sam Carter (Amanda Tapping), US air force major general George Hammond (Don S Davis) and Teal'c (Christopher Judge), an alien who defects from his position as the First Prime of the Goa'uld Apophis to join the team. It premiered in 1997 and ran for 10 seasons. It was followed by spin-off series "Stargate Atlantis" and "Stargate Universe".
