Episode 2: Well Enough Alone

Summary

The Emmy-winning dark sci-fi epic starring Thandiwe Newton and Ed Harris returns for a fourth season

Review

If Westworld has a catchphrase, it is “These violent delights have violent ends”, so the bursts of butchery should come as no surprise. But in our glimpses of the future, one sleek and pristine millionaire’s playground after another is turned into a charnel house. Among the perpetrators are vengeful robo-madam Maeve (Thandiwe Newton) and Man in Black William (Ed Harris), now apparently back from the dead. But more engaging is the mystery that plagues the every waking moment of writer Christina (Evan Rachel Wood).

It’s a spectacular cast of characters that never truly depart (joined by West Side Story Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose), and the twists keep you glued, but it’s all curiously dispiriting.
