Summary

The history of the American art form and how it evolved between 1953 and 1963 when the confluence of blues and hillbilly music at Sun Studios gave birth to rockabilly, the precursor of rock `n" roll, with Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash at the forefront. In the recording studios of Music City, country music's twang was replaced by something smoother - the Nashville sound. Contributors include Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Rosanne Cash, Elvis Costello, Brenda Lee and Merle Haggard. Narrated by Peter Coyote
