Episode 9: Week 5

Summary

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman return to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom this weekend as the battle to lift the Glitterball trophy continues. The 12 remaining couples each take to the floor in a bid to impress the judges. As the competition reaches its fifth week, the judges will be looking for the couples to really show what they are capable of. After the judges have given their scores, the public will have the chance to cast their votes. The two couples with the lowest combined judges' scores and viewer votes will face the dreaded dance-off on Sunday's results show.

Review

Well, the Reverend Richard Coles’s Strictly Come Dancing journey was all over in a flash (a-aah!), wasn’t it?

Previous comedy stompers such as Ann Widdecombe, Ed Balls and Mark Benton entertained us for several weeks before being shown the door, but despite Claudia Winkleman claiming all his fellow contestants thought his performance was “perfect” and Tess Daly giving him a ten “for the wig”, we voted the Revvo out almost straight away. Is this evidence of viewers taking a more serious approach to the competition, we wonder?

Among those who’ve been doing some seriously good dancing throughout are Aston Merrygold, Debbie McGee and Alexandra Burke (all holding their own at the top of the leaderboard) but there’s still time for one of the ones who are happily waltzing around the middle to surprise us.
