Episode 2: The Sun

Summary

After Tara is targeted by a new government weapon, Eric takes matters into his own hands in an effort to thwart Burrell's anti-vampire initiatives. Meanwhile, a long-lost relative reveals himself to Jason and Sookie, Sam is unnerved by supernatural-rights zealot Nicole, and Bill contemplates the scope of his heightened powers

Review

Sookie Stackhouse, you know fine well that picking up stray men in the woods can only lead to trouble (even if this stray is played by the latest Brit hunk in Hollywood, Robert Kazinsky – EastEnders’ Sean Slater). Still, new boy Ben may take her mind off semi-deified vampire Bill, who can now add seeing into the future to the growing list of the powers gifted to him having drunk Lilith’s blood (I’d rather not dwell on his new, “look, no hands” approach to blood-gathering). But what he’s seeing does not bode well for his kind.

And it looks like the vampires are also under threat now that mankind has developed nifty anti-vamp weaponry. Silver bullets with added UV? That’s just mean. So Eric Northman (who’s calmly if ickily removed the said bullet from a stricken Tara) takes the fight directly to the new Louisiana governor. The battle lines are being drawn: even more blood’s likely to be spilt, if that’s possible.
