Summary
"Robson Green: How the North Was Built" is a two-part documentary that finds the actor celebrating the north of England's contribution to the Industrial Revolution. He begins by telling the story of the coal industry and finds out how the cotton-mill workers of Lancashire created the profits that helped to develop Manchester. He then explores advances in transport as canals and railways linked cities. The second edition focuses on the iron, steel and shipbuilding industries. He revisits the former Swan Hunter shipyard on the north bank of the Tyne, where he had his first job, and looks at the development of working-class communities after the Industrial Revolution. It premiered on ITV in July 2013.
