Summary
It's Saturday night at the movies as Strictly celebrates some of the biggest films in history. We are now down to 14 couples and every one of them has to deliver an amazing routine to a classic movie track to stay in the competition. Plus, we have a surprise judge - for one night only, pop legend Donny Osmond will be joining the panel. Donny is a winner of Strictly in the US, so who better to analyse our celebrities' moves and give them words of wisdom? Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman host an evening full of sparkling moves, iconic songs and plenty of surprises.
Review
It’s movie week (always fun), but which celebrities will be footloose and who’ll be disappearing somewhere over the rainbow? It’s difficult to predict because nerves often get the better of potentially good dancers at this stage of the competition. There are some who are born performers, though.
While nobody was surprised by Aston Merrygold’s prowess on the dancefloor when he did the foxtrot in week one, who expected Debbie McGee to join him at the top of the leaderboard for her remarkably agile paso doble? No, put your hand down. You didn’t, either. We’ll have to see whether they can both fulfil their early promise with other dance styles because the top-scoring celebs from the first rounds haven’t always gone on to lift the glitterball trophy
Meanwhile, viewers are warming to new judge Shirley Ballas. The verdict on Twitter seems to be that her constructive criticism, technical advice and encouraging comments have made her a worthy replacement for Len Goodman.
