Summary
"Birds of a Feather" is a British sitcom that originally ran for nine series on BBC One between 1989 and 1998. Sisters Tracey Stubbs (Linda Robson) and Sharon Theodopolopodos (Pauline Quirke) are brought together when their husbands are sent to prison for armed robbery. Hard-up Sharon moves out of her council flat into Tracey's expensive home in Chigwell, Essex. Another key member of the cast is snobbish next-door neighbour Dorien Green (Lesley Jospeh), a middle-aged married woman who is constantly having affairs with younger men. While the culture clash between Sharon and Tracey sparks much of the humour, Dorien often steals scenes. The series was a hit from the start and the scripts became increasingly ambitious, including a 1993 Christmas special set in Hollywood. A successful touring stage version of the show in 2012 led to ITV commissioning a new series, which premiered in January 2014.
