Episode 11: The Good Samaritan Killer

Summary

Red goes off grid on a mission to seek out the FBI's mole, while Cooper assigns Liz to a dangerous investigation, hoping that by placing her in jeopardy, he will lure the master criminal out of hiding. Guest starring Alan Alda and Frank Whaley.

Review

This entertaining slice of hokum about a super-criminal aiding the FBI returns after a mid-series break. After the infiltration and bloodbath at the FBI’s “black site”, the whole team tasked with handling Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) are under suspicion. Are they moles who helped Anslo Garrick waltz off with the Feds’ prize asset?

Red, meanwhile, has escaped Garrick’s clutches and embarked on a ruthless vengeance mission. Spader remains the main reason for watching: he plays Red’s pursuit of vengeance as a finely balanced mix of camp villainy and subtle menace.

Alan Alda is the heavyweight guest again, this time playing someone unexpected.
