Episode 1: George Clarke's Old House, New Home

Summary

The architect tries to unlock the potential of old properties. He starts out in Stroud, where Phil and Leighla are transforming their ramshackle, listed Georgian farmhouse with an industrial-style extension. George also pays a visit to Wootton Bassett, where he helps a couple flip the layout of their Victorian end-of-terrace home

Review

If you’ve been working from home for the past 18 months, you can hardly fail to notice the amount of home improvements that have been going on. Drilling and assorted types of banging are an almost constant accompaniment to the daily soundscape in my neck of the woods at least. So welcome back George Clarke, offering advice to people trying to revive their own period properties.

In this first episode, he meets a couple in Gloucestershire who want to add a modern extension to their listed Georgian farmhouse, while in Wiltshire the layout of a Victorian end-of-terrace house gets flipped.
