Episode 1: Blocco 181

Summary

Italian drama following the residents of a fictional apartment block hidden in the outskirts of Milan. The series centres around three characters that come from different backgrounds but are brought together by a strong bond. Starring Laura Osma, Alessandro Piavani and Andrea Dodero

Review

Top Boy meets Gomorrah, anyone? This gritty urban fairytale is set in the multicultural outskirts of Milan, a milieu rarely seen on-screen. The high-octane action centres on an apartment block, where Latin-American street kids deal drugs and “pandilleros” (low-level gangsters) pledge loyalty to their crime “family”. Amid the guns and machetes, though, a passionate love triangle blossoms. Can our three protagonists survive, thrive and even escape? The eight-parter was co-developed by Italian rapper Salmo, who makes his acting debut and curates the soundtrack. A star is also born in leading actress Laura Osmo, who plays fearless heroine Bea. A pulsating, sensual story of sex and power struggles. Bellissimo.
