Summary

An increase in physical comedy was a hallmark of the fifth series, originally broadcast between September and October 1979. Bill Owen, Peter Sallis and Brian Wilde reprised their roles as Compo, Clegg and Foggy. Stan Richards, Seth Armstrong in Emmerdale, appeared in The Flag and Further Snags. Full Steam Behind, reported to be Peter Sallis's favourite episode, saw Foggy take Compo and Clegg to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Compo wants to impress Nora in Here We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder by taking up hang-gliding. Seven episodes were aired. A Christmas special rounded off 1979, but there wasn't another new show until the Christmas special in December 1981.
