Episode 4: The Masked Singer

Summary

Five singers take to the stage in disguise as judges Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan try to guess the mystery celebrities performing inside the elaborate costumes. After the votes are counted, the fourth celebrity will be eliminated and unmasked. Hosted by Joel Dommett

Review

As we’re always being reminded, there are clues everywhere as to the singers’ identities. You do, however, require an almost forensic knowledge of said celebrity in order to have half a chance of identifying them. Who’d have twigged that the ship on top of Chandelier was a nod to Heather Small’s “HMS” initials? It’s the type of thing the Only Connect question-setters would be proud of.

As tonight’s fourth unmasking looms, a bit more lateral thinking might be in order to pin down the identities of the remaining anonymous warblers, especially as some are disguising either or both of their speaking and singing voices. Sneaky. So who are Traffic Cone, Rockhopper, Poodle, Panda and Bagpipes – whose costume might just be the barmiest of them all this series (and that’s saying something)? Tonight, one will be unveiled.
