Summary
"Goodnight Sweetheart" is a British sitcom starring Nicholas Lyndhurst as accidental time traveller Gary Sparrow. He leads a double life after discovering a time portal that allows him to travel between the London of the 1990s to the same area during the Second World War. In the present day, he is a TV repairman married to Yvonne (Michelle Holmes, later Emma Amos) and is a friend of Ron (Victor McGuire). In his alternate life in the past, Gary strikes up a friendship with barmaid Phoebe (Dervla Kirwan, later Elizabeth Carling) and dim-witted policeman Reg (Christopher Ettridge). Throughout the series, Gary divides his time between both worlds, getting tangled in a web of lies in trying to keep both Yvonne and Phoebe happy. Ron is the only one who knows about Gary's double life. Created by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran ("Birds of a Feather", "The New Statesman"), it premiered on BBC One in 1993 and ran for six series, clocking up 58 episodes.
