Review
Raj Koothrappali is the perennial problem character in The Big Bang Theory, but actor Kunal Nayyar is finally given some meaningful material. His on-off relationships always peter out after a series or two, meaning he’s once again the sole gooseberry among his geeky peer group.
But tonight, he takes a shine to Issabella Concepcion, his cleaner at Caltech. She’s a Cuban, so some of the gags – naturally and poignantly – reflect their “outsider” status. And though a smitten Raj is embarrassed to tell his friends of her occupation, Issabella (Maria Canals-Barrera) has the last, very splendid, laugh.
Elsewhere, Sheldon becomes excited by Amy’s gene experiment and decides he wants to have a baby. His seduction tricks are ridiculously funny. Right now the show is landing its jokes with impressive weight – long may it continue.
