Pride of Britain Awards 2016

Summary

Carol Vorderman hosts the annual awards show from London's Grosvenor House, where Prince Charles joins some of the biggest names in TV, showbusiness, politics and sport, including Theresa May, Dame Maggie Smith, Eddie Redmayne, Simon Cowell, Ant and Dec and Peter Kay, paying tribute to this year's deserving winners. These include a nine-year-old girl who has battled through more than 500 operations for burns and is now raising £50,000 for charity, an Alzheimer's sufferer who has become a singing internet sensation, the NHS doctor who takes unpaid leave to save lives in war zones and a grief-stricken family whose tireless campaign to change the law on drug-driving paid off.

Review

Carol Vorderman returns to our TV screens to meet some of the nation’s most inspirational people, who have done extraordinary things. Among this year’s Pride of Britain recipients there’s a nine-year-old girl who’s had 500 operations for burns and is now raising £50,000 for charity, an NHS doctor who takes unpaid leave to save lives in war zones and a family who fought tirelessly to change the law on drug driving – and that’s just for starters.

Dame Maggie Smith, Eddie Redmayne and Peter Kay are among the stars lining up to surprise the winners, so have your tissues at the ready. It’s going to get very emotional.
