Episode 1: Desert Shores, Deep Mines & Wind in Your Wheels
Summary
Helen Skelton, JB Gill and Jules Hudson explore the UK's coastline. In North Yorkshire, Helen descends 4,500 feet into the UK's deepest mine - the only place on Earth where polyhalite is extracted. On the Kent coast, JB explores Dungeness - a vast shingle headland and a haven for unlikely wildlife. Jules is in Devon, setting sail from Salcombe aboard the iconic Yawl - the pride of the south coast

Good friends Helen Skelton, Jules Hudson and JB Gill are exploring Britain’s 11,000 miles of coastline. But not together. Instead, they share their experiences — in this first episode, in North Yorkshire, Devon and Kent — via their mobile phones. While most of us would be content having an ice cream and a paddle, they hunt for leeches and singing frogs, explore ancient caves, hear a choir singing in a mine, and join rescue dogs on a training exercise.
There’s a lot of teasing and joking as they view each other’s reports, especially when Helen keeps grinding to a halt on a land yacht on Redcar beach.
