The hosts trail Dortmund by two points with just seven games left in the 2018/19 season.

Bayern scored 17 goals and conceded just once in three games to kick-start March but were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Freiburg to hand Dortmund the advantage once again.

Robert Lewandowski is in top form ahead of the clash with his former side and will be hoping to inspire his men to a crucial victory.

Dortmund have lost just one Bundesliga game since Christmas but will be hoping to secure victories with more comfort than relying on stoppage time winners.

Paco Alcacer scored a brace after the 90th minute to record a 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg in Dortmund’s last outing.

Prior to that game, Marco Reus scored a 92nd minute winner against Hertha Berlin and BVB required two strikes in the last five minutes to dispatch Stuttgart.

Both sides will understand the gravity of Saturday’s showdown with plenty of fireworks expected in the iconic arena.

However, Bayern Munich v Dortmund games are a different breed.

In the past six Bundesliga meetings between the teams, only one clean sheet has been recorded, while 28 goals have flown in. Expect another cracker.
