The January transfer window is almost over and it hasn't been a busy one at Old Trafford.

INEOS billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in charge of football operations at Manchester United after becoming a minority shareholder in the club but he isn't splashing the cash immediately.

January is a difficult time to buy but will Erik ten Hag demand fresh faces come through the door? With inconsistent results leaving the Red Devils well off the pace in the race for the Champions League, additions could be made.

Manchester United have used the January transfer window to clear the decks rather than new arrivals heading to Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho returned to his former side Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season, with United desperate for the winger to find form and build his confidence after a tough period at the club.

Midfield flop Donny van de Beek joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, while a break clause has been exercised to return emergency loan signing Sergio Reguilon to parent club Tottenham.

United are said to be in the market for a new forward to provide competition - and rest - for Rasmus Hojlund. The Red Devils have been offered Bayern Munich's ex-Stoke ace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, while former Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite is also a potential target.

Ratcliffe is likely to leave the big spending until the summer transfer window and Crystal Palace playmaker Michael Olise is said to be a top target. The winger, who is also being eyed by Chelsea, is said to be open to a move to Old Trafford.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is also on United's radar as they look to sign a centre-half who will stay at the club for the coming years.

Branthwaite, 21, joined Everton for just £1m four years ago and he's supposedly attracting interest from Real Madrid.
