Hollyoaks: Kieron Richardson on Ste’s controversial crystal meth storyline – “Fingers crossed it all makes it onto the screen”

The actor is scared that he might have to reshoot key scenes

Hollyoaks favourite Kieron Richardson has expressed concern that an upcoming crystal meth storyline involving his character Ste Hay could prove too controversial for the C4 soap’s early evening timeslot.

“I am scared. I’m thinking that there might be reshoots because it’s too extreme. I’ve literally gone for it,” Richardson told RadioTimes.com on the red carpet at this year’s British Soap Awards.

Speaking about his hopes for the upcoming episodes, he added: “I haven’t diluted the performance at all. And I have been wondering whether it’s too much for the six thirty pm auidence.

“Fingers crossed it all makes it onto the screen. It deserves to. We’re trying to show how terrible being addicted to crystal meth is, so it would be wrong to reshoot. Everything we’ve done so far deserves to be on screen.”

Ste’s addiction to the Class A will be screened this summer, with Richardson also promising a three-hander episode featuring himself, Nick Pickard (Tony) and Parry Glasspool (Harry):

“We have a special episode that’ll be shown in July. And you’ll see Tony and Harry fighting for Ste’s life. it gets as bad as that.”
