Emmerdale: Rhona leaves the village following painkiller relapse

Rhona will have a stint in rehab - and leave Leo behind

Emmerdale’s Rhona will exit the village next week to seek help after she relapses into painkiller addiction.

Long-time fans of the ITV soap will recall that Rhona once became addicted to medication prescribed for a back injury.

Now, in the wake of her rape by Pierce, Rhona will be seen resorting to pills as she struggles with telling her nearest and dearest about what has happened to her.

With Pierce having deliberately alienated Rhona from the likes of Vanessa and Paddy, the traumatised vet has been left a woman on the edge.

But upcoming episodes will see Rhona recognise that she needs professional help in rehab – a decision that sees her saying goodbye to son Leo and heading down south to seek treatment.

However, RadioTimes.com understands that this is just a temporary exit for Rhona and that Zoe Henry will be back on screens in the coming months.

Let’s hope that Rhona’s eventual return signals the end of Pierce’s freedom…
