Emmerdale actress Charley Webb has spoken of her pride in partner Matthew Wolfenden for his portrayal of David Metcalfe’s cancer fight.
A current storyline on the ITV soap has seen David undergo chemotherapy following a diagnosis of testicular cancer. Wolfenden himself has shaved his head, eyebrows and nasal hair for the role.
“I’m really proud of him,” Webb commented to RadioTimes.com. “But I said to him that it’s the least he could do for that story. To give that little bit back.”
As for how she reacted to the sight of him with a bald head, Webb said: “It’s fine. So many people are going through it in real life, so it just doesn’t enter my head, to be honest.”
Webb has been away from Emmerdale since the birth of her and Wolfenden’s second son in December, her character Debbie Dingle having quit the village in scenes shown on New Year’s Day.
On the topic of when she’ll be making her comeback, Webb said: “I’m not sure when it’ll be. I’ll need to sit down with our producer Iain MacLeod and talk about it. It won’t be too far away and I’m sure that Ross will be involved in her return. There has to be some Ross and Debbie drama in there.”
As for how life has been on her maternity leave looking after both first born Buster and latest addition Bowie, the actress noted: “This time around, it’s been a completely different experience. I was much younger when I had Buster and now I’ve got two boys.
“And Buster has been the best big brother. He’s obsessed with Bowie. They’re totally different, though. Both in looks and personalities. Buster’s dark and Bowie is blonde. Buster’s wild and Bowie’s really chilled. But it’s been amazing. I’ve loved it.”
