Emmerdale: Chrissie is “a bitch in waiting,” says show boss

Producer Iain MacLeod wants Chrissie to become Charity's sparring partner

New Emmerdale producer Iain MacLeod is lining Chrissie White up to be an adversary for prime schemer Charity Dingle.

Speaking about the possibility of the two women going head to head, the soap boss said: “I tend to like complicated female characters – so the classic soap bitch.

“And I think we’ve got a bitch in waiting in Chrissie up at Home Farm. Now we’ve put her through the mill with the helicopter crash and the aftermath, I do think that maybe one day she could be a really brilliant adversary for Charity.

“I like that kind of messed up, slightly kind of soapy bitch. I do love a bit of that!”

Recent episodes of the ITV soap have seen Chrissie begin to flirt with Andy Sugden following her divorce fem his brother Robert, while Charity is currently stirring up plenty of trouble following her release from prison.

On the topic of actress Emma Atkins returning full time as Charity following her maternity leave, MacLeod added: “Charity coming back is a massive bonus – she could start a fight in an empty room and may well  end up doing so in the next 12 months because I could just watch Emma in that role until the cows come home.”
