Pete Barton’s (Anthony Quinlan) shady past will return to haunt him next week when he’s accused by the police of previously selling ecstasy which resulted in a girl dying. To add to his worries, he’s also arrested for supplying drugs.
“A year ago, Pete was selling drugs for what he thought were the right reasons,” says actor Anthony Quinlan. “It was to try and keep the farm afloat. As a last resort. So it comes back to haunt him.”
But problems look set to mount when – after overhearing Debbie (Charley Webb) and Pete talk – a worried Sarah confides in Andy (Kelvin Fletcher). She tells him that her mum and Pete are sad because a lady died from taking drugs and that it’s Pete’s fault. A horrified Andy confronts Debbie, who lies to him. However, Pete decides to tell Andy the truth.
But Pete’s past and Debbie’s deceit are enough to send Andy into a rage and he decides to keep the kids full time. How will Debbie react to the prospect of her family being torn apart? And could Pete end up facing further charges?
“There’s a possibility he could be done for manslaughter if it’s proved the drugs the girl died from were his. He’s in a really sticky situation,” admits Quinlan.
