This is the dramatic moment from next week’s Emmerdale when Cain and Charity catch up with Chas and Cameron, the two people who have wronged their daughter Debbie.
Following his exposure as a two-timing love rat, Cameron plans to flee the village and take Chas with him. But she refuses to go along with his plan: “Running is the coward’s way out,” she tells him.
However, those initial concerns are soon swept aside thanks to a horde of disgruntled Dingles descending on the Woolpack. Not that Chas and Cameron get very far – once Cain crowbars their car windscreen, there’s no way out. “You’re not going anywhere,” Cain says.
Despite Chas’s assurances that Cameron really is in love with Debbie, the angry group still believes that the pair need to be punished – “We decide what you deserve,” states Debbie.
But nobody foresees what happens next: under the impression that she is the one who dealt Carl the blow that killed him, Chas makes a confession. “I never meant for this to happen,” she pleads, before being ostracised by her family and led away by police.
So will Cameron speak up and admit to his part in the death of Carl? Or will he leave Chas to take the blame?
Emmerdale returns on Monday at 7pm on ITV1
