EastEnders: Lee Ryan reveals what’s in store for his return

Woody is already back filming in Walford

Lee Ryan has lifted the lid on his full-time return to EastEnders.

Speaking at this evening’s British Soap Awards, the former pop star revealed he has already started filming having signed a 12-month contract to return as Harry ‘Woody’ Woodward, following his successful guest stint earlier this year.

“I started on Thursday and I’m really happy. I was very shocked they asked me back for a year but pleasantly surprised. The whole cast are great and the standard of acting is amazing.

“I’ve acted before on films but soap is so fast. I’ve learnt so much and felt like I did a crash course when I was here before, you have to be so on point.”

Ryan wouldn’t be drawn on whether Woody and Whitney would reignite their romance, which was memorably cut short when Mick found them in bed together, but promised there was lots in store for his character, who was a hit with fans.

“He’s a ladies man, and he didn’t do too bad last time! But anything is possible. There are so many different places to take it, I love doing dark stuff which might come later down the line.”
