Will Syed Masood return to EastEnders?

Actor Marc Elliott has news for fans of the BBC1 soap

There’s bad news for ‘Chyed’ fans today – while Christian continues to make periodic returns to EastEnders, it doesn’t look like there’ll be any such comebacks for his husband Syed.

Mark Elliott, who played Syed Masood between 2009 and 2012, now has a new job on the wards of Holby City – and doesn’t envisage a reappearance in Walford any time soon.

“I’m a very busy surgeon, so sadly I don’t think there’ll be enough time. I reckon my EastEnders days are done, to be honest. I had an incredible time which I think came to a very satisfying conclusion, so I’m happy to say that it’s in the past now. I don’t see myself going back there,” he told Inside Soap.

Elliott can be seen sporting a new look when he makes his debut on Holby City next week playing surgeon Isaac Mayfield – Syed’s long locks having been well and truly shorn. And he’s also been taking advice from former EastEnders co-star Nina Wadia, who played consultant Annabelle Cooper on the BBC1 medical drama.

“I’ve spoken to Nina a lot about the show. I was nervous about my first day, but she told me I had absolutely nothing to worry about and that I’d have a ball. I’d love to work with Nina again in the future. We had a brilliant time doing EastEnders together, and I just adore her,” Elliott added.
